Sri Lankan government comments on investigations into journalists' complaints

'The Sri Lanka government today said they have received 50 complaints from journalists over matters ranging from threats to murder. Speaking to the press, Media Minister Laxman Yapa Abeywardana said the Ministry of Defence has already begun investigations into the complaints. According to the Minister, these complaints include attacks, telephone threats, unruly questioning by police, and murders of journalists. The government has already appointed a committee including three Deputy Inspector Generals of Police to investigate the complaints made by Sri Lankan journalists.'
